Dayre UI Redesign

Dayre is this micro-blogging site that was popular for a time in Singapore and Malaysia. It built a nice little community of beauty bloggers, mummy bloggers and overseas Singaporeans and Malaysians. It changed hands, and has largely been neglected. The app is in desperate need of a refresh.

Which is why I chose it as my first UI redesign exercise.

Even though I’d been using it for a while, the icons still throw me for a loop. I added one of the major things on the users wish list as well, direct messages.

Excited to see where UI exploration will take me.

UPDATE: After more editing, this is the final look I was happy with.

Media Team Hoodie Design Process

I’ve been serving in my church since the end of last year as a videographer (vision switcher) in my Church’s Media Team/AV Crew.

They had been wanting to have a hoodie for the team since I joined (and probably before that), and last month their plans finally came to fruition. I designed the back print, and here are some rough sketches I did, the digital file in AI, and the final print out.

The AV Crew comprises of 4 roles, the audio team, projectionist, cameramen and videographer. I was inspired by line art icons that I’ve been seeing a lot of on Pinterest and this was the perfect opportunity to explore that style.

By the way, the 6, 7, 11 and 12 are not Toto numbers unlike what some might think. It’s become a bit of an inside joke, but actually refers to the different input numbers on the vision switcher board. 6 and 7 are the cameras, while 11 and 12 are the projection screens.

Learning Pixel Art

Happy New Year!

I’ve recently been learning Pixel art on Udemy since December, and it’s been a lot of fun! Especially the pixel characters.

Knives Chau, if you’re not familiar with her is from one of my favourite movies, Scott Pilgrim vs The World. It’s actually based on a graphic novel of the same name, and I actually used the colours from there, because they’re more distinctive.

Run Knives Run!

I wanted to try another style, so here’s Newt Scamander from the Harry Potter movie, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.
